Recently, we had the pleasure of helping a customer move from an apartment in downtown (SW) Calgary on the fourth floor with an elevator into an apartment in Quarry Park on the third floor without an elevator. The move took 5 hours, 2 to load, 20 minutes to drive and 2,5 hours to unload. Note that at the pick up location movers had a chance to use moving equipment such as dollies which speeds the process up significantly.
The customer had a 2 bedroom apartment. This residential move was of medium size with the following furniture and item transferred by our movers:
All fragile furniture was pre-wrapped in blankets for extra protection during the move. In addition, the TV was packed into an adjustable TV box for safe transportation. Next, the bed and crib were disassembled at pick-up location. Everything was neatly and safely packed into the truck. Finally, our driver carefully drove the truck to the drop-off location, where our professional movers moved everything up the stairs. We put everything into the designated rooms and reassembled back the furniture at the drop-off location.
When it comes to pricing information for this particular move it was quite straightforward. First, the total cost of the move came to 5 hours of labour. In addition, there was no charge for travel time or gas mileage as it was a local move within Calgary city limits.
We also had to apply a stairs charge at the drop off location as it was on the 3rd floor without an elevator – $75 ($25 for each set of stairs). This charge only applies when moving into apartments on the 3rd floor or higher without an elevator so keep that in mind when planning your next move!
With a base charge of 139 dollars an hour for 2 movers and a truck, for 5 hours the subtotal was 695 CAD. Adding to the 75 dollars stairs charge, the total came out to be $770 +GST (5%). Therefore, the move with taxes cost $808,50 for the customer. Our customer was very pleased with our services as we managed to complete the move within 5 hours without any damages or delays.

Cactus Moving’s truck left the pickup location in Calgary Downtown, driving along Memorial Drive. After a few minutes, the truck merged onto Hwy 2 S/AB-2 S and headed south. After about 15 minutes, the truck exited onto Glenmore Trail and then followed 18 St SE for a few more minutes until it reached Quarry Park Blvd SE. After a total of 20 minutes, the truck arrived at the drop-off location in Quarry Park.
